SRM INAUGURATION SCHEDULED FOR YESTERDAY DID NOT HOLD

Understanding one another is one thing that is very important for there to be progress in our society as a whole. When we are able to understand each other, it will not be difficult for us to live in peace and harmony. It is a good thing that both police and politicians in Rivers State are gradually understanding themselves. The politicians wants to exercise their political rights to achieve their own goals, so also, the police wants to do their job.
Yesterday, Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Bori, was another day for the pro-Amaechi political group, Save Rivers Movement (SRM), to hold another inauguration again. The group had earlier requested for police protection for their event on January 25 and 26, which was acknowledged by the police according to the Police PRO.
On Saturday, January 25, 2014, the police provided adequate security for the community and the event which brought relative peace as law and order were maintained and the participants conducted themselves in orderly manner.
Police security all around Bori community was highly appreciated by the people despite the organizers did not show up yesterday. Speaking with the Police PRO, Ahmad Muhammad, the police remain committed to ensure that law and order is maintained in the interest of the general public. He noted that police protection is for all. And in the interest of all the people of the state, they wish that law abiding citizens continue to cooperate with the police to do more better.
As the day breaks on January 26, yesterday, we met the police already in control of the whole area like they have done on the 25th.
Unfortunately, throughout the day, none of the SRM and their guests showed up. However, the police were on-ground all through. Up till now, we have not been able to contact the organisers to know why the event did not hold. We hope to speak with them hopefully on their next event.
We hope as well that this new relative peace in Rivers State will be sustained and improved upon.

According to Martin Luther King Junior, "Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek but a means by which we arrive at that goal."

GOVERNOR AMAECHI COMPLIED WITH POLICE STANDARD AND THERE WAS PEACE IN BORI

According to C. JoyBell C, “The downfall of the attempts of governments and leaders to unite mankind is found in this- in the wrong message that we should see everyone as the same. This is the root of the failure of harmony. Because the truth is, we should not all see everyone as the same! We are not the same! We are made of different colours and we have different cultures. We are all different! But the key to this door is to look at these differences, respect these differences, learn from and about these differences, and grow in and with these differences. We are all different. We are not the same. But that's beautiful. And that's okay.In the quest for unity and peace, we cannot blind ourselves and expect to be all the same. Because in this, we all have an underlying belief that everyone should be the same as us at some point. We are not on a journey to become the same or to be the same. But we are on a journey to see that in all of our differences, that is what makes us beautiful as a human race, and if we are ever to grow, we ought to learn and always learn some more.”

Misunderstanding between the Police and the Governor of Rivers State is taking a progressive dimension now as Amaechi complied and allowed Police do their job professionally as desired by the Police Commissioner, Mbu. Unlike the January 12, 2004, rally of the Save Rivers Movement (SRM) where many political thugs were hired by the organisers, the members of the political group now comport themselves as law abiding citizens and the whole occasion went peacefully for both Amaechi and APC.

The inaugurations of the pro-Amaechi political group, SRM in Bori on January 25, 2014, was peaceful. The SRM formally requested for police protection and the Rivers State Police Command officially acknowledge receiving their letter of request and subsequently provided adequate security for the occasion. The group complied with the instruction of the Commissioner of Police and every participant including who-is-who at the occasion were properly screened by the police. Interestingly, the whole environment was secured and the event went peacefully.
This new development shows that police protection is better than armed political thugs no matter how much the governor hates the CP. The good policing services that the people of Bori enjoyed at this occasion also made the anti-Mbu or anti-Police in the state give kudos to the CP.

Obviously, more progress will be attained when people comply with standard of security agencies in the state in order to serve them better. And for the first time as well, there was no media noise over police insisting that there must be no security breach. Sometimes, one might not know a man so well judging him from afar.

Even though it has taken this long before the governor understands that the CP means serious policing services, there is still time to make up by maintaining peace and harmony. It is glaring that with the cooperation of the politicians in government to comply with security standard, Rivers State will become more peaceful and there will be progress.
The people of Rivers State recounted their experience in 2006 and 2007 when so much lives were lost and the state experienced a serious set back economically, socially, etc. Today, they appreciate the police and respect the commitment of Mbu to have endured this far for the world to understand that he will not compromise professional policing for whatever reason, even if the person he is supposed to work with misunderstood his job ideology.
Police were everywhere.

Everybody was screened and ensured no dangerous weapon or object is brought to the venue to avoid security breach by criminals.

MBU SHOULD REMAIN STRONG AGAINST AMAECHI'S DIRTY POLITICS

"A slave who cannot match up with his master will unleash his grievances on his master's goat"

On Sunday, January 12, 2014, Amaechi's campaign group, called Save Rivers Movement (SRM), violated security in the state and almost unleashed mayhem on the people of Obio/Akpor Local Government if not for the timely intervention of the police. SRM had previously held similar campaign at Eleme and Elekahia communities, but the number of thugs that the group brought to Runmuola were alarming and shocking.

Before the daybreak on that Sunday, political thugs (most of whom were hired from outside Rivers State) have arrived Obio/Akpor. The increasing number of these thugs at such time made the neighborhood more curious to know their mission. On monitoring the strange faces, the neighborhood realized that they were not from the state; their vehicle drivers drove them into Rivers State that early hours of Sunday. Some of these strangers were calling their colleagues who were still on their way to Rivers State that they  have arrived Rivers State. By 4 am, more thugs have arrived Rumuola. They roam about the neighborhood with some of them smoking Indian hemp and disturbing the quiet community. This strange development warranted the people in the neighborhood to quickly alert the police.

More police patrol came to the rescue of the community upon discovering this sensitive situation. The efforts of the police to discuss with the organizers of the rally failed because they were not even on-ground as of that time. The people on ground were strangers. At the same early hours of the morning, some agents of the organizers arrived the scene and could not convince the police considering bottles, clubs and other weapons found in their vehicles. The police was not also aware that such rally will hold and therefore advised the organizers to cancel the programme. Police was forced at a stage to disperse the crowd with teargas when the thugs were mobilizing themselves to resist the police.

The claim that Police shot Senator Magnus Abe, killed two children with teargas and burnt down two buildings is not truth. That is why up till now, Abe is still hiding and cannot show the wound he sustained from gunshot and tender medical report. The true remains that nobody was shot, no child was smoked to death by police teargas, and no single house was burnt. All the false stories, especially shared through the paid press of Amaechi and owned press of APC members, are intended to destabilize the state.

It is important that professional media organisations endeavor to share well researched news and reports; avoid stories that are not genuine; favoring the political interests of their directors; and stop aggravating issues merely to sell newspapers. The media should stop contributing in crises that encourage insecurity in Rivers State since experience have shown that false news and reports are worsening the crises and making life more difficult for the masses.

Politics should not be a do or die affair! Positions of power should not be for the pursuit of selfish goals but for the development and advancement of our society and our people as a whole. The position of a governor is meant to serve the people and not to seek such ambition of becoming a dictator that determines the political life and future of others. Governor Rotimi Amaechi's ambition to become the godfather of politics in Rivers State has gone to the extreme and causing problems that are easily avoidable in the interest of peace and progress in the state. Unfortunately, he has become too desperate and have sold the people to propagandists who are invading Rivers State with hired thugs and reckless politicians. These invaders are after stealing the oil and riches of the state like Bola Tinubu and his self-hand-picked ACN members are regularly stealing and sharing wealth of the people of Lagos State.

Before it's too late, Governor Amaechi must stop his dirty politics and avoid creating unnecessary worry and disturbances for the people of Rivers State. Amaechi interest of becoming the godfather of politics in Rivers State is not the general interest of the people; that is a personal interest of the governor. He should accept the reality that only the Almighty God crowns a king. So, for Amaechi to become the godfather, no matter how ambitious he has become, he should avoid violence and bloodshed. He cannot continue to be the godfather of thugs and militants, then expect  the people to believe in his excessive recklessness as the best for the state. In fact, he does not need to raise any more false alarm or preach anarchy to scare away the law abiding populace. Sincerely, a governor who uses government apparatus and resources to terrorize his people purposely to encourage breakdown of law and a state of anarchy purposely, just to realize selfish goals while disrupting his people from exercising their freedom to vote and be voted is a very wicked human being.
